Darlington Solar breaks ground
NCRE’s Darlington Solar was a step closer to generating 4,755 MWh of clean renewable energy into the Roanoke Electric Municipal Cooperative’s electricity network.
Construction commenced after several months of planning and collaboration with the utilities. Financing and construction agreements were concluded earlier in the month.
“Darlington Solar is another proud moment in the history of NCRE” said Dan Shaffer, the company’s President. “It is the first of many projects to start construction that comes out of the new collaboration with PS Renewables”.
In 2016 PS Renewables made a significant investment into NCRE and started development on more than 200MW of solar projects in the South East.
“It is great to see the fruits of our very positive collaboration” said Ildefonso Mozas, Senior VP at PS Renewables. “We are very positive about 2019 and the project development capability of NCRE”.
Darlington Solar is a 2.8MW solar PV project in Halifax county, NC and will be connected under the NC EMC rules for Qualifying Facilities. It will create more than 25 jobs during construction and generate 4,755 MWh of clean energy, the equivalent of that used by 1000 homes.
