NCRE celebrates South Carolina Energy Freedom Act
Today, NCRE attended the signing ceremony of the South Carolina Energy Freedom Act at the State House in Columbia, the capital of South Carolina. Governor McMasters signed HB 3659 into law, capping a sustained and diligent campaign from solar, environmental, and business sectors in the South East.
NCRE has long supported the efforts of the South Carolina Solar Business Association and is proud to have helped achieve this milestone legislation.
Managing Partner for NCRE, Frank Dekker, who was present at the signing ceremony commented: “It is great to see State legislature coming together in unanimous votes to give the people of South Carolina freedom in generating their own energy, removing restrictions from Net Metering and enforcing a 10 year PPA for large scale solar installations. Governor McMasters summarized it well; “South Carolina is blessed with many things, including lots of sunshine. This law is a big step towards taking control of the resources and how they are used in a market based model. We will continue our investment and project development efforts in South Carolina and increase our pipeline beyond the 1.1GW of projects already under development”.
“The work of the SCSBA is invaluable and we are pleased to be part of such an effective and pragmatic advocacy group” said James Shaifer, from NCRE who was also in Columbia.
